The Good Shepherd Lays Down His Life

The Good Shepherd Lays Down His Life

What are the current assumptions you have about God that may not be true?

11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” -John 10:11-18 - John 10:11-18

Jesus knows everything about you and nothing about you holds Him back from fully loving you.

There is nothing you can do to make Jesus love you more and there is nothing you can do to make Jesus love you less.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” -Jeremiah 1:5

What is distracting or keeping you from letting the Good Shepherd know you?

The Good Shepherd will never abandon His sheep.

Jesus will not only never abandon us in this life…He will also never abandon us in our eternal life.

Are there any walls or barriers you need to take down in order to receive care the Good Shepherd wants to give?

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” -John 15:13

Jesus willingly lays down his life AND He calls us His friends.

The depth of Jesus’ goodness extends beyond the sheep in the original pen. He extends it to all sheep.

God’s voice was not only meant for just His people, but He extends it to all who want to follow.
