I had an experience several weeks ago that I believe will inspire you today. Here’s the normal order for how I begin my day: silence, Scripture, journaling, and prayer. But on this particular morning, I began by writing out a brief prayer: “God, we need you to sustain us.” After praying this, I got into my daily Scripture reading and this was part of it:
Isaiah 46:4 Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
This spoke to me in a significant way and I think it’ll do the same for you.
Even if you face _________________, God will sustain you. I left a blank there because I know you could be facing all kinds of things in the future. God is able sustain you regardless of what you’re going through now or what’s ahead for you. How could this truth build your confidence as you move forward this year?
Trust that God will carry you through what you can’t handle by yourself. I can’t tell you what or when, but I know you’re going to face something this year you won’t be able to handle by yourself. But when that moment comes, you don’t have to be afraid. You have a God who is willing to carry you. Will you let him?
Bring eternal truths into your daily reality. If you have put your faith in Jesus, then it means you are trusting Him with your eternity. If you believe Jesus can sustain you forever, then surely He can sustain you this year, this month, this week, and today. What is one eternal truth that you really need to embrace today?
And don’t forget - God intends to use our Epic community to help sustain each other as well. Make a fresh commitment to live deeply in community this year.
Much Love,
Ben
