If we were sitting across the table from each other at your favorite coffee shop, I would want to ask you this question: How full is your encouragement tank? This question is important in every season, but it feels especially significant as we continue to be surrounded by so much discouragement in our world.
What daily practices do you have that fill your encouragement tank? If we aren’t careful about what we allow into our lives each day, we will likely end up more discouraged than encouraged. Therefore, I have found it important to think about what inputs I need in my life each day and what inputs I need to guard against each day. Create space each day for silence, Scripture, and prayer. Set boundaries around how much time you spend reading/watching news and scrolling on social media. Get outside and exercise if you are able to. Reflect on what encourages you and make a commitment to incorporate some of those things into your life each day.
What current relationships do you have that fill your encouragement tank? While I would love to tell you that every human in the world is someone who wants to fill your encouragement tank, that is far from the truth. However, we must diligently seek out those people who do want to encourage us. Who are those people for you? Do you have a rhythm for being in touch with them on a frequent basis? Who are 3 encouragers in your life that you could reach out to today to set up a call or an in-person walk?
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
I really believe the only way we can thrive in life and fulfill our God-given calling is by keeping our encouragement tanks filled on a daily basis. I even pray that this weekly letter from me will accomplish some of this for you.
Much Love,
Ben
